Happy Month Birthday Layla!

One of my favorite newborn shots taken by me!

Now I know a lot of people stop counting by the months of their baby probably not too far past 24 months... I don't.... Well I haven't stopped, yet! I will though...Eventually.
Today marks Layla being 29 Months old.
So why do I do it?
To keep track of all the pictures I take and make sure they are in order.
All the files on my computer go Month(28)2.27.12-3.26.12
I don't know why I do it, it just seems simpler that way
And at the end of the month, I open a new folder and start all over again for the new month
I think I'm a little crazy as many already do
But at the same time its my worry
Its a worry that I will forget a memory
That I will forget when it happened
A memory that will be lost just as fast as the time passes
A worry that I will never get those memories back
A worry that I will never be able to show Layla how happy of a baby she was
The dates on those folders probably mean nothing more than dates
The pictures are worth more than a thousands words I know this is true
But letting one single part of those moments,
seems like that's slowly letting go of those memories we cherish with our babies
At what age and time do we just say two, three or four?
From the moment Layla was born, all those little moments were the ones that count
The special bonding moments of nursing
The sounds of her cries(which was few)
Her sleeping patterns
Or lack of
The way she would laugh at the silliness of almost nothing
Her pure innocence
Having Layla has been nothing more than a joy
Through all the ups and theres many
To all the downs, we always seem to come back up
As Layla gets older I will try and take in every moment big and small
Sometimes we get side tracked
Its ok, the small moments count just as much as the big
Layla is a very smart little girl who is loved very much and by many.
Happy 29th Month Birthday !

Wisdom Wednesday

We all get wisdom from somewhere, whether it be from magazines, tv, books, parents, friends, teachers you know just to name a few. Whether we consider it wisdom or really just new insight to things we might have thought about before or new information that we could always learn from.Sometimes it makes us take a step back to see what we do in our day to day life, and how we can try and make ours and our kids lives better... so this week this is my wisdom, not to you but for myself :)

Happy Easter!

Our Easter morning was simple yet great
I got up a little bit before Miss Layla and made breakfast for everyone
By the time I was done cooking she finally woke up...
With bunny prints on the floor I was sure the Easter Bunny had come
Layla half asleep was just as amazed as I was :)
I knew it would be hard for her to want to eat breakfast with all the treats the Easter Bunny brought
She still managed to eat her breakfast thankfully
Off to Church we went
Grandma made a wonderful dinner and we finished off the day with a Easter egg hunt...
Layla's basket was too small Grandpa had to get his bucket.
Such a wonderful day to spend it with those you love

Food Truck What?

So I know in the life of Layla and the many outings we take there are hopefully not going to be many of these but few. I got free tickets to a food truck festival so I thought why the heck not? Well let me tell you why not.
Because I have a two year old who shouldn't have to suffer in the heat no matter how lightly she is dressed.
Because my two year old shouldn't have to wait 45 minutes to find something to eat.
Because I don't want to wait 45 minutes to try something that I can get sitting down at a restaurant.
Because there wasn't enough walking space and sitting areas for people once they got their food.

I know I know... there are many things that most likely could have fixed all my issues, but I assumed this was going to be a fun outing. I was wrong. After waiting 30 some minutes just for fries, and seeing how long all the lines were compared to the one I just stood in,  I knew it was going to be a long hot day. I thought maybe we would be better off going to a restaurant. And so we did... Acapulco here we come! Turns out a restaurant was a much better answer that day. Kids were sweating like crazy out in that heat and people passing out... I didn't want to chance it Layla getting heat stroke... Oh and Layla had her first chance of going in to a casino! Start em young, just kidding... We passed through to get to the parking structure. Grandma hit the slots spending a big 5 bucks she doubled. Layla and I of course watched from the sidelines.
Definitely one outing we can skip next year

Bunny Breakfast

For Layla and I, Easter is forever going to be one of those holidays that hopefully she will love as much as I do. Last year we were both baptized together at the Easter Vigil. So this year I thought I would find as many things to take part in and make it a special time of the year. Among all the fun and exciting things we did was the breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Who doesn't want to eat with the one and only Bunny?! It was super cute how the mall had set this up with a magician entertaining people as they waited in line. Face painting (Layla isn't in to people touching her, let alone coloring on her body) balloon animals, Cinnabon and drinks... They even had a raffle which Grandma won Layla jellybeans! Layla enjoyed every moment, especially when the Easter Bunny stopped by. She was a little shy but made sure to show him all her little toys she had received

Egg Coloring

The last few weeks have been off and on for us. First I caught a cold, then just when I thought Layla wouldn't catch it... she did. It has been hard to plan activities for us because I want to be a good person and not get other peoples children sick. So we stay home.
That is until I feel we are well enough to head to the store to get some eggs to get festive and do what traditions call for. Egg Coloring!
Not only to mention so far we have been able to do a egg hunt, take Easter pictures and get the egg coloring done. We still have many things planned in the next couple days to come! Hopefully we both stay in good health to be able to embrace this Easters season! It also marks one year since Layla and myself have been baptized. So much to be thankful for! Happy Easter Weekend!
