Happiest Place On Earth

So this summer we were super lucky enough to have one of my friends from high school invite us on her daughters first trip to Disneyland. I hadn't seen my friend in about ten years. (Starting to feel old now) It was a wonderful day, super hot but none the less fun! My wonderful friend Amber had us take in some of the things we usually never see at Disneyland. A couple of the shows and even a couple of the rides that we generally skip. Layla was super shy through out the day. I was waiting for her to open up to Amber's daughter who is close in age, but once again Layla never surprises me. I was able to catch one photo of the two little girls as Amber and her husband were on a ride. All and all we had a great day and if it was up to me having a pass to Disneyland should be just as required as having medical! Its THAT good for you!

Playing Tourist

You never really realize how much there is to see here in Southern California when you live here. You definitely take for granted the beaches, the attractions and everything else that is clearly right out your back door. Another thing my sister wanted to check off her list of things to do this summer was to be a tourist. She wanted to head to Hollywood and make a day out of it. See the stars on the sidewalk and go to Kat Von Ds tattoo shop. Griffith Observatory was last on the list of things to do that day. We even got to sneak a peek at some of Hollywood's top actors as they strolled the red carpet for a movie premiere.

Disneyland with Auntie Melissa

Every time my sister comes to visit we try and do as many things to keep her entertained. This summer like last we chose to do Disneyland as one of our main highlights. I am not sure who likes going there most. My sister, Layla or myself. I will not try and even argue that one. I think the only reason I love going there is because I get excited for Layla. Just to see the look on her face is priceless to me. We took my nephew as well who loves it just as much but usually sleeps a good deal of the time and he is really hard to shake out of it (trust me we've tried) Here is some of the pics I took

4th Of July

So this 4th of July I had a full day of events planned for us. In the morning we made our way down to where the local parade was going on. We picked our seats and patiently waited. I don't know why, but I have this odd passion about parades. I just love them. No matter how big or small, parades for me are always a blast. Layla had a great time, an even better time when she realized the people on floats were throwing out candy. After that we headed to where the fireworks were going to take place. They had jumpers, food trucks, vendors, pony rides, a petting zoo and tons more! We had a blast. We found some seats afterwards and waited for the fireworks.

 Patiently waiting
 She loves her grandma!
 But her mama more! hehe

I loved this part them carrying the flag!

Layla waving her flag (to get candy of course)
 Saying hi!

This jumper was fun but too big for mama

Churros and a beam light!

Movies In The Park

So every Thursday night we grab our drinks, some popcorn and a snack and head to the local Rec Center for a kid movie in the park. They bring out their jumbo blow up screen and let me tell you the sound system couldn't be better! Layla loves this night and is super excited. Everyone brings their kids, blankets and picks a great spot to watch a movie. The movie usually starts at dusk and can get pretty cold by the end of the movie. We started off with just a blanket and sweaters. But now I make sure I bring extra blankets and I put Layla in her pajamas so she can stay extra warm. With all this heat I would have never thought it would get cold at night in the summer time. But then again this is the desert! Here's just a couple pics to share!

Summer 2012

So far this summer has been a little more planned out then usual but some days are spent well just lounging around. And some days are spent where there's water. The one thing that lacks at this new house is the fact there is no pool. I  bought Layla a toddler pool but it hasn't come in much use this summer due to the fact that it is so hot outside. Without a pool for me there isn't a pool for her. Its just too hot to sit outside while she plays :( I just feel horrible. You know that kind of horrible that parents get when they know they should do something but they don't. Trust me the idea I have in my head of what summer should be like, just isn't happening here. So instead here is some pictures of our day at the lake
